Article Spinning in Relation to The web… everything is connected by sticky strings of information.

One of our clients was concerned that their company name and article content was being connected to a cheap websites because their article was posted on a travel site offering discount airline tickets, while they are promoting a luxury travel experience.

Article spinning is a craft to re-create non-duplicate content from an original article in order to submit it to articles directories.  This technique is a great way to advertise a brand and establish links to a website.  However it is also a balancing act, and includes a bit of a Catch-22.  Defending brand image is extremely important – and the client is encouraged to question the issues and then needs to decide whether to continue article submissions.  But let’s review the purpose of these articles before discussing that. 

We spin an article to generate a gazillion non-duplicated articles by using synonyms and substituting phrases or sentences whenever practical.  However if you’re not careful sometimes the syntax and grammar gets somewhat cumbersome, so it is important to make an extra effort to make certain the content reads well under all combinations of wording.  This can be difficult and time consuming.  More information can be found on the Design Chemical website and blog Bangkok Web Design.

Spun articles can be used on your own blogs, manually submitted to or automatically submitted through subscription services to either blogs or article directories based on subject category.Subject categories are usually standard general interest – and while everyone has a different list, they’re basically the same.

They accept the article because they want content in order to display advertising.  Normally it is an exchange of decent content  for decent backlinks to the site.

The fact that these are showing up in Google Alerts is great for a web page.  It means the content is getting indexed by Google and the links to the web page are getting recognized.  Google, and other, spiderbots will follow the link to your web page too – checking anchor text link relevancy.  Also when it happens quickly means Google values the article sites.

Not all article sites are created equal, so the more exposure you get the better.  The primary purpose of these article submissions is to get the hyperlinks.  This is what SEO and getting organic search traffic is all about.  Links mean value and quality score for your site.  The article submissions are fundamental for creating web presence for your site.

Here’s some of the Catch-22:  More often than not there is a concern that people researching topics of interest might actually come across this content rather than find your website; but then if you do the math it becomes into a minuscule probability that there will be a negative perception by a target audience.  Most of the odd-ball content is in adword ads, that many readers are likely to ignore regardless.  The few of questionable domain names just don’t add up to much overall.

When we spin and submit articles they are tagged not to display on adult, gambling, on-line pharmacy, or weight loss web pages … but other than selecting categories to submit we’re at the mercy of pages and rely upon them to respect to submission directory rules.  The benefits far outweigh the the likelihood of any negative perceptions.  Concerns about protecting brand are valid and deserve talking about.   But these links are fundamental to having surfers find the original content through organic search.
